31st December
Goodbye 2021. Hello 2022.
I wish you all the best for this new year.
I'm an English teacher and I've created this blog for 7th, 8th and 9th grade students from Escola Básica Hermenegildo Capelo, Palmela, and their teachers. The purpose is to motivate students to participate in English. I/ We/They can share opinions, curiosities, information, thoughts, short comments and/ or texts about topics discussed in classes. Learning English can be fun!
Thoughts of
the week
This week I leave you two thoughts.
I'm sure you'll agree with them.
They are both important!
“Curiosity about life in all of its aspects,
I think, is still the secret of great creative people.”
– Leo Burnett
"Don’t settle for what life gives you;
make life better and build something.”
— Ashton Kutcher
"Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10 December – the day on which the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights empowers us all. The principles enshrined in the Declaration are as relevant today as they were in 1948. We need to stand up for our own rights and those of others. We can take action in our own daily lives, to uphold the rights that protect us all and thereby promote the kinship of all human beings. International Day
of
Persons with
Disabilities
"Today, the world population is
over 7 billion people and more than
one billion people, or approximately
15 per cent of the world’s population,
live with some form of disability;
80 per cent live in developing countries.
The annual observance of the
International Day of Disabled Persons was
proclaimed in 1992 by United Nations General Assembly
resolution 47/3. It aims to promote the rights and
well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres
of society and development, and to increase
awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities
in every aspect of political, social, economic
and cultural life.
The theme for IDPD this year is “Leadership and
participation of persons with disabilities toward
an inclusive, accessible and sustainable
post-COVID-19 world." (…)”
