World Theatre Day

Do you know that...

"Since 1962 World Theatre Day has been celebrated by ITI Centres, ITI Cooperating Members, theatre professionals, theatre organizations, theatre universities and theatre lovers all over the world on the 27th of March.
This day is a celebration for those who can see the value and importance of the art form theatre, and acts as a wake-up-call for governments, politicians and institutions which have not yet recognised its value to the people and to the individual and have not yet realised its potential for economic growth. three important dates are celebrated today?

Year 2 are celebrating World Poetry Day ...wilbrahamprimary.com
-World Poetry day

"Celebrating the linguistic expression of our common humanity
Poetry reaffirms our common humanity by revealing to us that individuals, everywhere in the world, share the same questions and feelings. Poetry is the mainstay of oral tradition and, over centuries, can communicate the innermost values of diverse cultures.
In celebrating World Poetry Day, March 21, UNESCO recognizes the unique ability of poetry to capture the creative spirit of the human mind." (in https://www.un.org/en/observances/world-poetry-day

"A word is dead when it is said, some say.
I say it just begins to live that day." (Emily Dickinson, American poet)
-In the U.K. there is a National Poetry Day, celebrated on10th October.  Listen here to Prince Charles, Prince of Walesreading one of his favourite compositions – ‘Quoting Shakespeare’ by Bernard Levin.

3.21 World Down Syndrome Day ...sensationstation.ae
-World Down Syndrome

"Down Syndrome

Down syndrome occurs when an individual has an extra partial (or whole) copy of chromosome 21. It is not yet know why this syndrome occurs, but Down syndrome has always been a part of the human condition. It exists in all regions across the globe and commonly results in variable effects on learning styles, physical characteristics and health.
Adequate access to health care, to early intervention programmes, and to inclusive education, as well as appropriate research, are vital to the growth and development of the individual.
In December 2011, the General Assembly declared 21 March as World Down Syndrome Day. The General Assembly decided, with effect from 2012, to observe World Down Syndrome Day on 21 March each year. In order to raise public awareness of Down syndrome, the General Assembly invites all Member States, relevant organizations of the United Nations system and other international organizations, as well as civil society, including non-governmental organizations and the private sector, to observe World Down Syndrome Day in an appropriate manner." International Day of Forests | Food and ...fao.org
-International Day
of Forests

"Too precious to lose
When we drink a glass of water, write in a notebook, take medicine for a fever or build a house, we do not always make the connection with forests. And yet, these and many other aspects of our lives are linked to forests in one way or another.
Forests, their sustainable management and use of resources, including in fragile ecosystems, are key to combating climate change, and to contributing to the prosperity and well-being of current and future generations. Forests also play a crucial role in poverty alleviation and in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Forests cover one third of the Earth's land mass, performing vital functions around the world. Around 1.6 billion people - including more than 2,000 indigenous cultures - depend on forests for their livelihoods, medicines, fuel, food and shelter."
Forests are home to about 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity, like this owl perched  on a tree branch. The photo was part of a UNEP contest on forests. Credit: Jessica Kerr.

"How the Spring Equinox marks the changing seasons
The first day of spring is here, but why are there two different dates - and what actually happens during the equinox?

Britons may still be feeling the cold, but not for much longer as the first day of spring is here, marking the return of longer days, new blooms and warmer weather.
The March equinox (called the autumn equinox in the Southern Hemisphere) has long been celebrated as a time of rebirth in the Northern Hemisphere. (…)"

Classes 8th C, 9th A, 9th B and 9th C

Dear students,

I hope all of you and your families are fine and safe.
These are special times and we have to learn how to deal with this situation.
I know that you are all very responsible and will do what ever you're being told: be at home, don't go out, read, do your tasks, ...

Now, about the tasks I asked you to do:
Classes A, B and C of 9th year - I was mistaken on one exercise I told you to do but do not stress.
The correct page was 137 of the Student's book and the exercises were E and F (this is correct). However, those that did the exercises on page 129 I'll accept it. Do not worry!

The important is that you keep on reading, doing some exercises of the previous and taught contents. Read the texts from your Student's book and Student's File.
Remember you can do that using Escola Virtual, you can get the ebooks there and you can use Aula Digital if you want to do more!

Some of you have been sending your tasks which I appreciate deeply. I'll give you all feedback next Monday and then I'll tell you what to do next.

Once again be safe!

Friday 13 March 2020

You can also communicate with me using my email.

Be safe please.

The National Campaign for Better Hearingcampaignforbetterhearing.ca
3rd March,
World Hearing Day

Do you know…?

"World Hearing Day is held on 3 March each year to raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world.
Each year, WHO decides the theme and develops a brochure on the topic based on the best available evidence as well as advocacy materials such as posters, banners, infographics and presentations, among others. These materials are shared with partners in government and civil society around the world as well as WHO colleagues across the Organization.
At its headquarters in Geneva, WHO organizes an annual World Hearing Day seminar. In recent years, an increasing number of Member States and other partner agencies have joined World Hearing Day by hosting a range of activities and events in their countries. WHO invites all stakeholders to join this global initiative.(in https://www.who.int/pbd/deafness/world-hearing-day/en/)

World Hearing Day 2020

Hearing for life: don’t let hearing loss limit you

On World Hearing Day 2020, WHO will highlight that timely and effective interventions can ensure that people with hearing loss are able to achieve their full potential. It will draw attention to the options available in this respect.
Key messages for World Hearing Day 2020:
  • At all life stages, communication and good hearing health connect us to each other, our communities, and the world
  • For those who have hearing loss, appropriate and timely interventions can facilitate access to education, employment and communication.
  • Globally, there is lack of access to interventions to address hearing loss, such as hearing aids.
  • Early intervention should be made available through the health systems.
