International Women's Day,

8th March

International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day
celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political
achievements of women. (…)
Make a difference, think globally and act
locally!
Make everyday International Women's Day.

Do your bit to ensure that the future for
girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding.

Find out more about the reasons life is hard for women in 2017. Click here!

Do you know that … the ten International Women's Day values are
*Justice                  *Tenacity
*Dignity               *Hope
*Equality             *Collaboration
*Appreciation   *Respect
*Empathy           *Forgiveness

Congratulations,
Mother, sisters, wives, girlfriends and fianceeswhat would we ever do without them? Nobody can honestly say we don’t owe an enormous amount to the women in our lives, from the mothers who made us chicken soup when we were sick as children, to the sisters who helped us decide what to wear on our first date, to the wives who somehow manage to juggle both a career and a family, never missing a beat. Women’s Day is all about celebrating these incredible people and showing them how much we love, respect and value them. This holiday is perhaps especially important in parts of the world where women are still forced to deal with shocking inequality on a daily basis and is meant to raise awareness of the challenges and struggles faced by these women. Women’s Day celebrates women’s history, highlighting key events, milestones and achievements, and aims to further promote and raise awareness of women’s rights and to achieve equal opportunity status in all walks of life.”

Let it be, Paul McCartney

The lyrics and the music of an amazing song. Words of wisdom
Enjoy and click here!

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
And though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Let it be, let it be.
Yeah there will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Let it be, let it be.
Yeah there will be an answer, let it be.
And though the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine until tomorrow, let it be.
O, will I make up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be,

Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

Shrove Tuesday / Pancake day

Do you know that ...

"(...) Shrove Tuesday varies from year to year.
It is the day preceding the beginning of Lent, or Ash Wednesday, and is therefore dependant on where Easter falls, which is based on the cycles of the sun and the moon.
4. ‘Shrove’ refers to the religious rite of being shriven – confessing one’s sins – before the start of Lent.
5. As one is supposed to refrain from eating meat, eggs, milk and butter during the 40 days of Lent, making pancakes became a way of using up all those remaining ingredients left in the house."(in http://www.southerngazette.ca/news/local/2017/2/28/shrove-tuesday---happy-pancake-day-.html)

Opinion

My students were asked

"What do you think is the most serious environmental problem that our planet is facing? Why?"

and here are some of their answers.

«One of the environmental problems is pollution in rivers, lakes, seas and oceans caused by sewage and dumps, environmental accidents (oil spills), but the population is also guilty because people also spill waste into rivers. These problems affect the fauna, flora, soil, water, air»

«The destruction of the ozone layer, which causes an increase in temperature, will begin to melt the ice, causing floods, which damage the habitat of some animals, thus endangering their survival. I think we could intervene in some way to try to save the planet.»

«In my opinion, the most serious environmental problem that our planet is facing is the global warming.
The global warming started mostly because of the amount of pollution that we, humans, are making. It not only kills a lot of animals that live in the cold surface, but it also helps the formation of a future tsunami.»

«Our planet is facing many environmental problems but I think global warming is the worst. Global warming is the rise of average temperature on Earth. It is bad because the high temperatures melt the glaciers, the air quality gets worse and that leads to climate change, animal extinction and diseases.»

«I think that the most serious environmental problem that we are facing in the world is the global warming, because this situation is causing a rise of temperature that damages the plants, the animals and the Humans. I think that people should be worried about this serious problem.»
