Opinion

My students were asked

"What do you think is the most serious environmental problem that our planet is facing? Why?"

and here are some of their answers.

«One of the environmental problems is pollution in rivers, lakes, seas and oceans caused by sewage and dumps, environmental accidents (oil spills), but the population is also guilty because people also spill waste into rivers. These problems affect the fauna, flora, soil, water, air»

«The destruction of the ozone layer, which causes an increase in temperature, will begin to melt the ice, causing floods, which damage the habitat of some animals, thus endangering their survival. I think we could intervene in some way to try to save the planet.»

«In my opinion, the most serious environmental problem that our planet is facing is the global warming.
The global warming started mostly because of the amount of pollution that we, humans, are making. It not only kills a lot of animals that live in the cold surface, but it also helps the formation of a future tsunami.»

«Our planet is facing many environmental problems but I think global warming is the worst. Global warming is the rise of average temperature on Earth. It is bad because the high temperatures melt the glaciers, the air quality gets worse and that leads to climate change, animal extinction and diseases.»

«I think that the most serious environmental problem that we are facing in the world is the global warming, because this situation is causing a rise of temperature that damages the plants, the animals and the Humans. I think that people should be worried about this serious problem.»

Writing a Biography

Steps to follow

1. Find out the basic facts of the person's life (full name, famous for, date and place of birth, family, …)
 2. Think about what else you would like to know about the person, and what parts of the life you want to write most about. Some questions you might want to think about include:
-What makes this person special or interesting?
-What kind of effect did he or she have on the world? other people?
-What are the adjectives you would most use to describe the person?
-What examples from their life illustrate those qualities?
-What events shaped or changed this person's life?
-Did he or she overcome obstacles? Take risks? Get lucky?
-What would you highlight in his/her life?
-(...)

3.Do additional research at your library or on the Internet to find information that helps you answer these questions and tell an interesting story.

4.Don't forget to include the bibliograpy in your written task.

NOTA:

Entregar o trabalho escrito, da biografia a apresentar oralmente, na aula antes da apresentação oral, numa folha A4, sem linhas, devidamente identificada (nome, nº, ano, turma, data de entrega) e com apresentação cuidada.
