International Day for Tolerance,
16th November
During the time of Apartheid in South Africa, when black people were denied their basic human and political rights, two youngsters of different races forge a connection in Cape Town. UN Photo (1982)




As Mahatma Gandhi once said "Non-violence is not a garment to be put on and off at will.
Its seat is in the heart, and it must be an inseparable part of our being". 
Today, we are aware of this importance and our actions should be in that way.

The Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, said in her speech, 

"In a world of diversity, tolerance is a prerequisite for peace. It is also a lever for sustainable development, as it encourages the construction of more inclusive and thus more resilient societies that are able to draw on the ideas, creative energy and talents of each of their members. (...)"
